What is the biggest, “baddest” disease of all, which causes loss of health and fitness? Could it be cancer, heart disease, diabetes, or strokes? Those are big and bad but not the biggest and the “baddest” of all.
The name of this disease is the “yeah, but” disease. The “yeah, what” disease? You know, the “yeah, but” disease. Whether you know it or not, you, like all Americans, are very familiar with this disease.
Allow me to explain.
You want to make changes in your diet, your health, and your lifestyle. You have the best of intentions. But when you are not mindful and hesitate too long to start on your journey to a whole new you, the “yeah, but” disease may rear its ugly head and stop you dead in your tracks. And bewarethis disease presents itself in many different disguises.
You think to yourself:
I'd like to eat more fruit and vegetables. I'd like to eat less meat and dairy products. I'd like to eat less junk. I'd like to exercise more. I'd like to make healthier choices.
And one form of the “yeah, but” disease rears its ugly head.
You say to yourself, “I certainly would make these changes…
“‘Yeah, but’ I feel fine, so why should I bother?”
Just because you feel fine, doesn’t mean that you are fine on the inside. Many diseases and conditions, like cancer, stroke, heart attack, and diabetes, silently lurk and grow while giving you no warning at all with pain and symptoms.
“‘Yeah, but’ I have good genes, so why should I bother?”
Just because your mother and/or your father had relatively long lives does not guarantee that you will too if you neglect your body.
“‘Yeah, but’ I have bad genes, so why should I bother?”
Just because your mother and/or father died prematurely of some disease doesn’t mean that you are doomed to get it also. In fact, gerontologists, old age experts, tell us that longevity is determined by about 5% genetics, 95% lifestyle choices.
You and your daily choices, not your genes, determine how long you will live and how well you will live.
What are some more “yeah, buts?” Can you guess before continuing to Part 2 of: Is the Biggest, “Baddest” Disease of All Lurking Inside You?

The surety bond market is currently a very conservative market. Contract and commercial bond departments throughout the nation have tightened up their underwriting practices due to enormous loses throughout the industry. Many sureties have had to close their doors, other have had their ratings drop to a level where they can not write the same business they could in years past. Obviously this leaves the bonding companies that are still operating with a very conservative outlook when it comes to their underwriting guidelines.
One thing that many do not understand is while the current surety bond market is tough, it is considered a more traditional underwriting approach. Contractors are being angered by decreases in their bond lines, or in worst cases are now being deemed “not bondable”. Business owners seeking commercial bonding such as license bonds to run their business are not only finding it harder to obtain an approval, but are also seeing rates much higher than years past.
Why such a drastic difference? A couple years back the industry saw the softest bond market ever, which caused a backlash to what is now today’s hard market. The surety bond market is cyclical, a member of the Surety Bond Forums commented on the cycle stating:
Vicious cycle:
We need more profit from you – write more business
We need to write more business, loosen up underwriting
We’ve loosened up underwriting – oops- losses
Losses? Sorry, you aren’t contributing to the bottom line – watch it
Tighten up underwriting – less premium – but losses still come in from previous underwriting
Losses increase – loss ratio increases due to smaller premium and more losses
Sorry – we are closing down surety operation and sticking to profitable lines
While at another company – lots of business out there due to company a getting out of business – go pick it up we need more business so we can get more profit and on and on and on
What is a 6 letter word for “doesn’t learn from the past”
S _ R _ T Y
The good news for anyone looking to obtain a bond is that the market will become more liberal in time. The bad news for agents is this will not be the last time that accounts scramble in mass looking for a new agent that can offer them what you previously were. Fortunately for agents, in general they will find very similar offers from agent to agent, as our industry is smaller than most realize.

What is conscious sedation?
Conscious sedation is a very safe, very efficient and very effective way of providing anxiety relief and pain control during dental procedures. There are 2 groups of patients who benefit from this technique:
The drugs we use in sedation are given intravenously – usually into a vein on the forearm or the back of the hand. The injection may cause mild discomfort. These drugs are the same or similar to drugs used in general anaesthesia but given at a slower rate and/or in smaller doses.
As the name implies, conscious sedation is not a general anaesthesia. The aim of conscious sedation is to reach a state of calm relaxation and drowsiness, so that you:
With conscious sedation, time seems to pass very quickly and before you know it the procedure is completed and it is time to go home.
Other options?
How safe is conscious sedation?
What after effect should I anticipate?
Does conscious sedation always work? Will I be aware of/remember what is occurring?
Preoperative Instructions
(Failure to comply with these instructions may result in the cancellation of your procedure)
Postoperative Instructions
It is important that both you and the person accompanying you understand that for at least 12 hours following your conscious sedation:
Please remember to relax and enjoy yourself during the procedure. Be secure in the knowledge that the dentists will be looking after you whilst providing high quality dental treatment.

Public Duty & Image
Associates of the British Royal Household become involved in numerous public duties ever year, throughout Great Britain as properly documented in the Court Circular, to admire, encourage & learn about the accomplishment or happenings of people institutions & businesses in an array of areas of life. As representatives of the sovereign, they frequently unite with the British Nation in honouring past times, festivals, celebratory and heartbreaking episodes & frequently she also funds or takes part in several generous, artistic & social activities.
Their travels overseas on behalf of the U.K. (called State Visits when the Queen legitimately meets with other state officials) attracts public attention to kind communications within & between the Commonwealth and other nations, to British supplies and trade, and to Britain as a historical, vacation, & tourist destination. Their present tasks and time-honoured functions constitute the apex of a present “royal court,” & endow a distinctly British and historical vision to official procedures (For example, Trooping the Colour) and outlook to public proceedings (E.g. Summer Parties, Royal Ascot). Click here to find out about the English Royal Family

Funding
Finances that support the Queen in the process of her roles as the leader of state of the U.K. comes from the Civil List. This is a return of a tiny part of the proceedings from the Crown Lands that are offered by the monarch to parliament at the swearing in of each and every reign; all Crown Land being governed by The Crown Estates, a foundation answerable to parliament. In the 2003-04 financial year, the amount endowed was one hundred and seventy-six million pounds, where the Queen’s spending was thirty six million pounds. The Queen’s payments doesn’t however comprise the expenditure of guards.
Following a conference call with a colleague I was asked to give distant healing to a person many thousands of miles away. The person is very famous but has undergone many emotional and physical challenges in the last few years.
I was asked by my colleague to connect to him and was informed that he had agreed to this. But when I connected to him I found the experience quite unique.
For many years I have been able to take my spirit out of my physical body and travel to a different aspect of my Self — as, in reality, we are all one.
On this occasion, I waited until I went to bed at night and, at the junction point between waking and sleeping, I took my conscious awareness out of my body and travelled — I suppose one could call it through the Astral Planes — to the space occupied by this person.
As I arrived I was surprised to meet with quite a bit of resistance. The best may be to describe my experience: as I mentioned above, I did not take my physical body, only my spiritual awareness.
As I came around him to start the healing process, he started to lash out at me, lunging his hands into my body to rip me apart. The easiest way to visualize this process would be like a sword fight.
If you can imagine him with a sword in his hand slicing the air where I was standing and lunging the sword through me, you will get a feel for the level of resistance I was experiencing.
Because I did not take my physical body with me you can see why this was so futile. The sword was just passing through me: I was existing only in the empty space, so it looked as though he were just attacking fresh air.
After a while he began to tire and realize himself that this was futile and he could not hurt or destroy me. As he relaxed and accepted my presence, I was able to connect to him telepathically and I started to send loving, supportive thoughts to help with his healing process.
Since that initial joining of our spirits, I have not experienced any resistance from him. I now feel that he is gaining the support and love he needs from the inside to change his life on the outside.
I will keep working with him over the next few months to build his self-esteem and confidence. I feel the healing process is well under way and that, over time, he can gain in self-confidence, become self-sufficient again and live a happy, normal life.

When you mention Slough, most English readers will immediately think of David Brent and his team from The Office – the BBC sit-com.
Readers with a more literary inclination may call to mind the words of John Betjeman. His 1937 poem ‘Slough’ began:
Come friendly bombs and fall on Slough!
It isn’t fit for humans now,
There isn’t grass to graze a cow.
Swarm over, Death!
Meanwhile, readers from America and elsewhere may simply be wondering what the tiny borough ever did to offend Betjeman, or indeed, how the word should be pronounced. (To rhyme with cough, rough, through, though or bough? The answer is the final one; honest.)
Slough, in the county of Berkshire, has not always had the reputation that it lives with today. Early records indicate that an area known as ‘Slo’ existed in 1196, but when stage coaches travelling from London began passing through the area during the 17th century, it became a more well known location. Indeed, in 1849 a rail station was established in Slough, and by 1918 the Army had based a motor repair depot on agricultural land here.
This land was later sold, and eventually became the world’s first industrial estate, drawing a large number of workers to the area.
The Slough Trading estate, along with other industrial areas nearby, have been home to factories producing Horlicks, Mars bars, Ford Transit Vans, and Dulux paint.
However, the decline of industry has caused more than a little bad press for the borough. The comedian Jimmy Carr, born and raised in the area, famously joked “If you want to know what Slough was like in the 1970s, go there now” – meanwhile the Campain to Protect Rural England rated Slough as being England’s least tranquil area.
With new hi-tech companies such as Amazon and Nintendo choosing Slough for their UK offices, and investment from businessmen such as Asif Aziz, Slough may just find itself to be a region of impressive change over the next few years. But will it last, or will we see a return to the misery of Ricky Gervais’ comedy? Only time will tell.
It is often quite easy for the Web business owner to overlook the importance of offline promotion. In reality, all your potential customers live offline. They work in the community, shop at the neighborhood supermarkets, attend various places of worship, read newspapers, watch television, visit the doctor and are members of various organizations.
Each of these facts is an opportunity to promote your Web site in the real world, and by routinely combining offline methods with your online promotions, you will effectively
extend your reach in the virtual marketplace.
Here are 11 simple ways you can do that:
This is by no means an exhaustive list of offline promotion choices. The opportunities are only limited by your imagination.
Many of the above strategies require little or no money, and can be executed as you go about your daily routine. The exposure you gain could be worth the time and effort many times over.
If you want to expose your business to the widest possible audience, you must vigorously and consistently promote it online as well as offline.
Effective promotion is to your business, what the wind is to a sailboat. You wouldn’t make much progress without it.

There is a saying about sex, “The fantasy is better than the reality.” There is a saying about phobias, “The phobia is worse than the reality.” Peace on Earth is a fantasy. It will never happen. There are many reasons, and the reasons are deep, but one reason stands out above all others. If you can overcome it, if you can figure out a way around it, then you will receive the Nobel Peace Prize. Yes, you too can win the Nobel Peace Prize.
Lets say that there are 200 countries on Earth today. Lets say that 20 have 100 megaton nuclear bombs so far. The nuclear bombs in 1945 were 50 kilotons. They are like firecrackers compared to the ones today, a mere 61 years later. Soon every country will have nuclear bombs. Yesterday George Bush sold nuclear reactors, nuclear technology and nuclear fuel to India. He is what we call a warmonger, a person who profits from war. This is not to be confused with a whoremonger, a person who profits from whores, or a pimp. It is a criminal offense to be a pimp, with long jail time, but perfectly legal to sell 100 megaton nuclear bombs which split into 8 in midair each with a specific target, which can fly into your bedroom window from Bombay, to a billion Hindus. Jesus said that the problem was that we play by human rules, instead of God’s 10, including “Don’t Murder.” He should know.
Please excuse my digressions. My egressions and my regressions are only surpassed by my aggressions. Do you like aggressive women? Do you like being tied up and teased? George Bush seemed to be a little tied up when Hurricane Katrina hit New Orleans. He had to give a political fundraising speech at a country club. At least you have to give him credit for honoring his commitments. When Osama bin Laden takes over the United Arab Emirates and begins shipping suitcase nuclear weapons to Al Qaeda cells in New York, and collecting a fee from the American government for doing it, don’t worry. George Bush will save you.
Human beings are like politicians. They don’t care what will happen in 100 years because they know that they will be dead. Their term in office is only 8 years. So why should George Bush care that he has bankrupted the country which now cannot pay its T Bills, with his trillion dollar tax cut and his Vietnam in Iraq? When the doo doo hits the fan a democratic President will be in power, and he can blame him. Yesterday it was announced that Antarctica is melting fast. The silence was deafening. Antarctica is 70% of the world’s fresh water, about to slide and melt into the Earth’s 1 ocean. If even Antarctica’s western half melts, as it now is, from global warming from using oil, the Earth’s 1 Ocean will permanently rise 20 feet. The Arctic and Greenland are also melting fast. We are looking at a permanent sea level rise of 100 feet. The only part of the United States that will be left shortly will be the peaks of Vail. The rest will be at the bottom of the Ocean.
So what do the Bushes do? They say that there is no evidence that global warming exists. They just flat out lie. George Bush should be the poster boy for Psychiatrist M. Scott Peck’s book “People of the Lie.” Scott Peck also sold 5 million copies of “The Road Less Traveled.” The Bushes and the House of Saud and the UAE and the bin Laden family, (who financed George Bush’s oil company), are all in bed together. These are the leaders of the world oil cartel. George Bush Sr., who sits on the board of directors of the Saudi royal family, and is propping up the dictatorship in return for billions into his Swiss bank account called the environmentalists, “The spotted owl crowd.” A better name for the environmentalists would be the “People trying to save the entire Earth from becoming the Lost continent of Atlantis Crowd”.
It is easy to blame our problems on the warmongering, corrupt, lying Bush family. It is human nature to find scapegoats because it is too painful for us to admit that we are to blame. We are ruled by our emotions. We do what feels good and we avoid what feels bad right now. Who elected the Bush family to lead the United States three times? “No new taxes.” “Mission Accomplished.” Define mission. The Bush cartel deliberately sold nukes to Hindu India, who the Muslim world hates even more than the U.S., to provoke the Muslim world into war with the United States, at which time the Bushes will conquer the middle east oil fields. This will lead to the apocalypse, nuclear world war III, which George Bush must trigger in order to trigger the return of the Messiah Jesus Christ who will come flying down from Heaven on his flying horse, and defeat the armies of Satan on their flying horses. Then George Bush expects to be greeted and congratulated and thanked on Mount Zion by the Messiah Jesus Christ. The best of human beings are savage, murdering, lying, corrupt, criminally insane maniacs who are about to trigger the end of life on Earth forever. The root reason that there can never be peace on Earth is the 2 ounce human brain.
The people of Earth now have 50,000 100 megaton nuclear bombs, manufactured by the warmongers in the last 61 years. Every nuclear scientist knows that nuclear world war III and its aftermath nuclear winter then ultraviolet summer will have no survivors. Our only chance to save our species is through world peace. Unfortunately there can never be peace on Earth and here is the reason why:
Let us say that the Earth has 200 countries all with large nuclear arsenals. Lets say that 199 countries all agree that only world peace and complete nuclear disarmament can save life on Earth from extinction in the near future. Now let us say that just 1 country, Russia, with 25,000 nuclear bombs disagrees and refuses to go along with the plan because they don’t trust that the others will really disarm and become peaceful and they don’t want to be over run by the 1 billion nuclear armed Muslims on their doorstep. They don’t want their women wearing burkas. They aren’t into praying to Allah 5 times a day. They don’t like falafel. So, if even 1 country, or now even 1 terrorist organization, or even 1 person on Earth refuses to disarm, then no one will, because they will be afraid of being attacked, and this is the reason that there will never be peace on earth until all of the humans are gone, leaving a radioactive wasteland in their wake.
Perhaps the Jewish Rabbi who 2 billion Christians and 1 billion Muslims believe is the Messiah will fly down from Heaven and save you all from yourselves. Keep believing that comforting thought. Soon it will all be over. We cannot save ourselves because it would take all of us, and our human nature will never allow it. We have been sent here to end all life on Earth forever. We are the Satanic Devils who we fear most. Ask any other species. The hallmark of criminal insanity is that you cannot see it in yourself – just ask M. Scott Peck. So what should we do now? Cherish every last moment in Heaven – we are about to destroy it forever. Perhaps some madman will want to take the rest of us with him, and he will fire a barrage of bunker busting nuclear bombs into Antarctica and melt it overnight, sending the rest of the Earth to the bottom of the Ocean overnight. Go buy property in the Swiss Alps, which will soon be beachfront property and take up water skiing with the Bushes.

One of my favorite quotes is by Alfred d’Souza. It goes like this:
“For a long time it had seemed to me that life was about to begin, real life. But there was always some obstacle in the way, something to be got through first, some unfinished business, time still to be served, a debt to be paid. Then life would begin. At last it dawned on me that these obstacles were my life.” – Alfred d’Souza
What I love about the above quote is that it has a very strong yet well hidden message in it.
Let me attempt to have you get it!
Any business that belongs to you is better than any job where all you end up doing is making someone else’s dreams come true at your expense.
However, where most people fail in business, as in Life, is when they find themselves waiting for their issues to get handled before ever even starting on their own road toward their very own dreams and aspirations.
You see; most people fail in business because they never get started in the first place. “there was always some obstacle in the way, something to be got through first”
Hence they shut down their project prematurely, somehow justifying the act because of some circumstance that was in the way (not enough money, experience etc.) Yet, they fail to realize that this wasn’t something new in their lives.
They get sucked in to the drift of being human. They give up! They abandon ship!
Most small business opportunities start-up as solutions driven projects, backed by much enthusiasm. Yet they end up as “just another string” of events and small bursts of activities (brilliantly executed with much success I might add) ending by making yet another “almost successful entrepreneur” right about his or her failure.
I have been working closely with YOU for many years now and this, I have discovered to be true.
The real challenge with small business opportunities as opposed to big business opportunities is that; with a small business, less is at stake making it easy to give up.
Big business means higher stakes. You can’t walk away for big business the way you can from small businesses. There simply is no option to walk away…
Herein lies one of the best kept secrets in business (there are many others but this is one of my favorites. I call it the “NO BACK DOOR” approach. It requires a unique commitment to keeping your word. It also requires a further commitment to keeping that commitment of keeping your word.
Once your commitment is in place, all you need to succeed is to commit to it “NO MATTER WHAT”. Success is inevitable inside this kind of commitment. Failure (the back door in this case) is just not an option. You are doomed to honor your WORD as YOUR SELF and you give your word to yourself.
“Yeah right”, you say!
Yup! That’s right!
At least, I believe it to be one of the most profound truths about business… and success in Life for that matter.
So how does one apply a truth such as this in real Life?
First, there must exist “thinking” (and I mean original thought), not all this nonsense that you and I call thinking.
I refered, in an earlier Newsletter, to that “little voice” we listen to while we shower in the morning. The joke is that we believe these (automatic) thoughts to be thinking.
Sorry guys and girls! These are just thoughts. Quite different from thinking! Yours and my automaticity is our worst enemy as entrepreneurs. We must find a way to break the drift (of these thoughts) and replace it with a new kind of thinking. The kind of thinking that wasn’t going to happen anyway. Therein lies, I believe, many more ideas and secret keys to lead you to whatever level of success you desire.
At this point, I’d like to share some guidance, some fundamental laws of business that if you put a little heart and lots of thinking into them, you will find yourself supercharged for success.
Small Business Opportunities are everywhere to be found. Whatever business opportunities attract you, remember to apply some golden rules. I must thank Quincy Scarborough for his great insights into the following passages.
Here are a few:
==>TEN RULES FOR SUCCESS IN THE NEW MILLENNIUM
Expect Volatility – We are witnessing an exponential increase in the velocity, complexity, and unpredictability of change. This increase creates a hyper-competitive international environment that bears little resemblance to the one that existed even five years ago.
Invent New Rules – Invent your own and make others follow you! Competitive advantages and profits will belong to innovators who transcend the existing parameters of competition.
Innovate or Die – Develop conscious strategies and mechanisms to promote consistent innovation. Resting on your laurels is simply not an option: winners are innovating and surpassing themselves constantly.
Break Barriers – 21st Century companies must dismantle the internal barriers that so often separate people, departments and disciplines. The boundaries between firms and their outside suppliers, customers and sometimes even competitors are also under severe pressure.
Be Fast – Implementation is everything and it better be fast. These days it’s far better to be 80 percent right and quick than 100 percent and three months late.
Think Like an Entrepreneur – The days of depending on corporate size and reputation to drop opportunities in your lap are over. Entrepreneurs go out and make things happen and allow themselves to fail and improve because of it.
Think Global – The fastest growing markets in the world today are outside North America. Companies can and do now shop in a single global supermarket for just about everything.
Keep Learning – At the end of the day, the only truly sustainable competitive advantage will be your ability to learn faster and better than your competitors, and to turn that learning into new products, services and technologies before your competitors can imitate your last innovation.
Measure Performance Differently – Concentrate on key strategic and profitability drivers, ones that reveal the underlying dynamics of your business, focus your energy on what really drives the future success of your business.
Be Nice – The place to improve the world is first in one’s own heart and hands and then work outward from there. If we improve ourselves by doing good for others, we build a solid bridge for success in the 21st century.
==>TEN LAWS OF FOCUS
Your Focus Needs to be Simple and Clear – Think transparent. What you are aiming for should be obvious. Ambiguity has no place in your success
Your Focus Needs to be Memorable – Your mind should be stimulated by the smallest of coincidences, even if you are not thinking about your goals at the time.
Your Focus Needs to be Powerful – Power comes from clarity. The clearer you are about what you want, the more personal power you develop and the more energized you are to achieve it.
Your Focus Needs an Enemy -At each moment you are moving either toward or away from your goals. In addition to your desires, the things that move you away such as bad habits, competition, or the threat of mediocrity are the enemies you need in order to keep you motivated to do right or better.
Your Focus Needs Short and Long Term Objectives – Long-term focus and planning is more about understanding the consequences and impact of short-term focus and decisions than about long term decisions themselves. You need a healthy respect and understanding of the two.
Your Focus Will Not Appeal to Everybody – Successful is different to each individual. Don’t be surprised if you receive resistance to your goals. Better yet, expect it!
Your Focus Will Not Be Instantly Successful – Life is a process, not an event. Maintain reasonable expectations. Rome wasn’t built in a day, and they were using local talent.
Your Focus is Not a Product – The hand can not touch your focus, only your heart. Concentrate on the benefits received, the feeling enjoyed. That’s what matters most!
Your Focus Does Not Come Without a Price – Success requires many things. Sacrifice is one of them. Be prepared do what you have to do to achieve your goals.
Your Focus is Not Forever – Everything changes. There is a shelf life, even to your goals.
==>TEN COMMANDMENTS OF GOAL SETTING
Thou Shall Be Decisive – Success is a choice. You must decide what you want, why you want it, and how you plan to achieve it. No one else can, will, or should do that for you
Thou Shall Stay Focused – A close relative to being decisive, but your ability to sustain your focus from beginning to end determines the timing and condition of your outcomes.
Thou Shall Welcome Failure – The fundamental question is not whether you should accept failure. You have no choice but to expect it as a temporary condition on the pathway of progress. Rather, the question is how to anticipate failure and redirect resources to grow from the experience.
Thou Shall Write Down Thou Goals – Your mind while blessed with permanent memory is cursed with lousy recall. People forget things. Avoid the temptation of being cute; Write down your goals.
Thou Shall Plan Thoroughly – Planning saves 10 to 1 in execution. Proper planning prevents poor performance.
Thou Shall Involve Others – Nobody goes through life alone. Establish your own “Personal Board of Directors”, people whose wisdom, knowledge and character you respect to help you achieve your goals.
Thou Shall Take Massive Action – Success is not a spectator sport – achievement demands action. You cannot expect to arrive at success without having made the trip.
Thou Shall Reward Thyself – Rewards work! Think of what you will give yourself as a result of your hard work, focus and persistence – you deserve it!
Thou Shall Inspect What Thou Expect – The Shelf life of all plans is limited. No plan holds up against opposition. Everything changes. Therefore inspect frequently and closely, it’s an insurance policy on your success.
Thou Shall Maintain Personal Integrity – Maintain your commitment to your commitment. Set your goals, promise yourself that you will achieve them. Eliminate wiggle room and excuses. That’s personal integrity!
==>TEN STEPS TO ACHIEVING ANY GOAL
Write It Down – Goals are specific, measurable, and time-bounded. Write your goals so that they reflect all three components.
List Your Personal Benefits – Identify exactly “Why” you want to achieve this goal. List all the ways you will you benefit personally.
Analyze Your Current Position – Success is information dependent. You need integrity in your information. Identify exactly your specific strengths, weaknesses, and opportunities as it relates to achieving this goal.
Identify Obstacles and Risks – List everything that could possibly prevent you from achieving this goal.
Identify Investments and Sacrifices – List everything, including time, money, and sacrifices that you can anticipate.
Knowledge Requirements – Identify what additional knowledge you need to acquire or have access to.
Support Team – List the people, groups, and organizations you may need help from as well as the specific role each one plays.
Develop Your Plan – List in chronological order each activity and their corresponding target dates for completion. Use all the information gathered in previous steps to develop your plan.
Set a Deadline – Determine on what date you will achieve this goal
Reward and Celebrate – Identify your reward for the achievement of this goal. You deserve it!
==>TEN MYTHS & REALITIES OF GOAL-SETTING
Goal Setting is Not That Important. Reality: Success Requires Goals – End of Story! A life of meaning needs goals and specific plans to achieve them. Success does not happen by accident.
Goal Setting is Difficult and Takes Too Much Time. Reality: Performance is accelerated by time invested in strategy. The game of life is won behind the scenes, in time spent on preparation.
New Years is the Best Time To Set Goals. Reality: There’s no better time than now to take control of your life. Goal Setting is not about timing it’s about decision. This life is not a dress rehearsal; it’s the only one you’ve got.
Goals Don’t Need To Be Written. You Can Keep Them In Your Head. Reality: Written goals clarify thinking, objectify their potential, and reinforce commitment. The palest ink is better than the strongest memory. Your mind can only take in new information at the expense of losing old.
Long-Term Planning Is A Waste of Time. Reality: Your Future deserves consideration. It will someday be your present reality. It’s worth considering seriously.
A Good Plan Is All You Need To Be Successful. Reality: Success is active, not passive. All plans require action. Preparation is no Substitute for action. Commit to the philosophy of implement now – perfect later.
The Best Way To Achieve a Goal Is To Just Begin. Reality: Action without planning is the root cause of most failure Success is a choice. With a plan to lead you, you can figure out how to get where you are going.
All It Takes is Hard Work To Achieve Your Goals. Reality: Hard work is important, but working smart is mandatory. Quit trying harder, look for new solutions, and you will accomplish far more in far less time with only a fraction of the effort you have been giving.
I Can Do It On My Own. I Don’t Need Help. Reality: Success requires cooperation. Nobody does it alone. In order to achieve more you must learn to help yourself. Success requires the cooperation of others.
Goals Only Need to Be Reviewed Once a Year. Reality: Inspect what you expect. Everything changes. Your goals must keep shaping, shifting and flexing to fit these fast-changing times. Adopt a regular and consistent Review process.
==>TEN GOALS WORTH PURSUING
Personal Development – The single best investment any of us can ever make is in our own personal growth and development. The accumulation of knowledge means everything to your future.
Excellent Physical Health – Your body impacts everything you do. Take good care of it through proper nourishment, exercise and rest.
Rest, Relaxation and Renewal – We must take good care of ourselves without feeling guilty.
Building a Loving Family – Family is the emotional core of our lives. We should make constant deposits into everyone’s emotional bank account.
Intimate Relationships With Your Friends – Surround yourself with nourishing friends. Share yourself with them and let them share themselves with you.
Involvement In Your Community – The definition of a life well lived must include a commitment to serving others.
Excellence in Your Work – Develop a reputation for excellence. A sincere commitment to excellence is a noble goal.
Financial Freedom – Money is important. Exercise wisdom in all your financial dealings.
A Comfortable, Loving Home – The single biggest investment most of us will ever make should be comfortable and lined with love.
Peace of Mind – There is no substitute for peace of mind. Everything you do either supports it or takes away from it.
==>TEN REASONS WHY PEOPLE FAIL
Taking Action Without Planning – When it comes to your goals and future, impulsiveness is the mother of regret. Considerable thought must be given to the ends as well as the means of your strategy.
Planning Without Taking Action – Endless preparation is worse than action without planning. Accept that things will never be perfect. Questions will forever exist. Plan well and launch!
Unrealistic Timeframes and Expectations – Life is a process not an event. Nothing great was ever built easily. Exercise wisdom and learn to be patient. Unfortunately most things in life take longer and cost more than the best-laid plans anticipate.
Reasons “Why” Are Unclear – Why you want to achieve a goal is more important than the goal itself. Before taking action on anything it is imperative that you ask yourself this key question: “Why do I want to achieve this goal?”
Denial of Reality – It’s far easier to deny reality than it is too accept it. And far too many people take the easy way Success is information dependent, when we deny reality for whatever reason, we devalue the integrity of our information, thus ensuring failure.
Conflicting Values – When we have not clarified our reasons why or defined what success someone else’s definition. When that occurs values are sure to be in conflict and progress is short- circuited.
Diffusion of Energy – Attempting to do too much is a recipe for mediocrity. Rather than doing an excellent job at a few chosen goals we spread our energies over a vast terrain and diffuse what matters most; time and energy.
Lack of Focus – Success demands focus. It is the hallmark of all truly great people. Your ability to get and remain focused or lack there of is perhaps the key determinant of your success.
Trying To Do It All Alone – Nobody goes through life alone, we all need the cooperation and assistance of others. Put your pride aside and learn to ask for help when you need it. Learn to leverage and share knowledge for your own well being as well as for others who are dependent upon your cooperation.
Fear Of Failures – Fear of failure is The “Grand Daddy” of them all. Far too many dreams have suffocated and died because of it. Fear resides where knowledge does not exist; the more you know about anything the less intimidated that you feel. Replace your fears with knowledge and watch your performance leap.
==>TEN INSIGHTS ON FAILURE
Failure & Perception – Put failure in the right perspective, it’s an opportunity for regrouping and evaluation while accepting the experience as part of the journey of success. Rich lessons are the fruit of failure and your can extract them at will.
Failure & Change – Change depreciates the value of past information, thus making predictions difficult, ambiguous, and correspondingly risky. In the presence of change, you must adjust your course-of-action to align with desirable new realities.
Failure & Limitation – In a world of limitation, the fundamental question is not whether people should accept failure. Rather, the question is how to anticipate failure and redirect resources to grow from the experience.
Failure & Information – Information scarcity will present itself somewhere, somehow, sometime. The key is to learn from what this new failure teaches and prevent it, if at all possible, from happening again.
Failure & Perfection – Perfection is unattainable, but failure is always possible! Any assumption regarding perfection stands at odds with the most fundamental premise of success: failure is inevitable.
Failure & Planning – Because the future is so hard to predict, we must attempt to pierce uncertainties fog as best we can. Your goal is to estimate and anticipate failures with tolerable precision.
Failure & Execution – Failure is not only the output of an unsuccessful activity; it is also the input of a successful one. Performance only changes and improves to the degree that you change and improve.
Failure & Mistakes – Those with an eye for success respond first by anticipating mistakes. Second, we accept responsibility for them. Life is for learning lessons and mistakes are some of your best teachers.
Failure & Consequence – Some look at failure as an extremely blunt instrument and surrender their dreams because of its potential consequences. Although tempting, do not allow the consequences of failure to harden your heart.
Failure & Progress – The world is littered with the victims of failure. Yet failure leads to victory. Use each failure as feedback in your constant progression toward your goals. Our world is one of adjustment, of conflict, and of mutual gains and losses. In short, of failure and progress.
==>TEN PRECONDITIONS OF PERSONAL DEVELOPMENT
Intellectual Curiosity: A passion to understand the changing forces swirling around you, an eagerness to learn them faster, and recognition that learning is an unending journey.
Humility: A pervasive acknowledgement that no one can have all the answers. You must have a willingness to learn from others.
Self-Criticism: A logical extension of humility. A constant questioning of conventional wisdom and a keen awareness that success invariably sows the seeds of failure.
A High Tolerance for Ambiguity, Complexity and Change: Learning is experimental. Thrive on change; don’t allow yourself to be intimidated by its rough and unpolished exterior. Complexity and ambiguity are simply part of the 21st Century condition.
Experimentation: It is only by experimenting with new approaches, monitoring the results and incorporating the feedback into new initiatives that learning takes place.
A Hunger for Feedback: A genuine eagerness to reach out and get performance feedback from a variety of sources, and a willingness to listen to it and make changes.
Learning by Doing: Have a bias towards action. The use of real-world tests is a much more fertile source of learning than abstract speculation.
An Appreciation for Failure and Mistakes: Learning is more a product of failure than success will ever be. View experiments as desirable, mistakes as inevitable and failures as the raw protein necessary for success.
Systematic Methods of Data Collection and Distribution: Intellectual capital is rarely created and shared by accident. Conscious mechanisms must be put in place to, acquire, disseminate, and leverage knowledge.
Creative Self-Destruction: No advantage lasts forever. Render yourself obsolete before others do it for you. It’s the price world-class innovators gladly pay for staying ahead of the pack.
Go out and multiply yourself in 2005!

If one thinks Bono may be a typical narcissistic rock star though, one should think again. U2’s main man is out to save the cradle of the world that is Africa – with his voice.
An active leader and player in global politics and development policies, Bono has worked with other organizations to provide relief to Africa in its battles against poverty, AIDS, and malnutrition. He also helps fund social and developmental projects to aid and promote education to all Africans. He has starred in several concerts for Africa along with the likes of Jon Bon Jovi, Beyonce, and Pearl Jam, to name a few. He meets with several top politicians of the world’s industrialized countries and continues to push them to lend a hand.
His battle cry, Make Poverty History, is one of the focal points of his endeavors. But what makes all this surreal is the fact that Bono is a rock star. With the branding most people, if not all, give to typical stars who care for nothing but concerts, drugs, and groupies, it is hard for the few to set themselves apart with philanthropic endeavors. In this regard, Bono certainly has not failed. Unlike those who use fame to get what they want, he uses his popularity to make a difference.
For all that he has done, he deserves more than just recognition in the rocker’s Hall of Fame. How about urging the Pope to put a halo around his head?
