Poker Strategy: Position Betting

Posted by admin on November 10, 2008 in Uncategorized

Your betting position is a huge factor in evaluating your pokerhand and deciding what action you want to take. It’s generally accepted that being the last to act in a hand is the best betting position to have. When you’re the last to act, you get to see what everyone else at the poker table does, and you can get a read on their hands. If you’re among the first to act, you’re basically flying blind. You’re vulnerable because you don’t have any idea what anybody else is holding, and you’re giving the table an idea of what you’ve got based on how you’re playing. In addition, you don’t know if someone who acts after is going to raise you and force you to decide whether or not to put more of your money at risk.

When you’re last to act, evaluate your cards based on how the other players act. If you’ve got median pocket cards, say a low pocket pair or an Ace with a low kicker, if everyone checks, they all may have worse and it could be a good idea to call and hope for a good flop or raise to try to get some blind without worrying that someone will raise behind you.

Pay attention to your betting position-it’ll tell you a lot about what you should do. Just another perk of paying attention at the poker table.

Backing up your Favorite DVDs

Posted by admin on in Uncategorized

If you have a DVD burner you may want to back up copies of DVDs you own. This will protect them and you will always have an extra copy if something happens to the original. Use your DVD burner to make back up copies of these new DVD’s. They are some really classic discs and after you purchase them, use your DVD burner to make an extra copy.

The Rolling Stones’ DVD, Rock and Roll Circus, is a 1968 concert documentary. When you make a copy with your DVD burner you will have captured John Lennon, Eric Clapton, and Keith Richards jamming together on the Beatles’ “Yer Blues.” Be sure to back up The Old Grey Whistle Test with your DVD burner. This disc contains live clips from the BBC show, including Talking Heads, Bob Marley, and Bruce Springsteen. There is also rare footage of Roxy Music with Brian Eno as they play “Do the Strand.” Elvis Presley has a great DVD, ‘68 Comeback Special Deluxe Edition DVD. You can use your DVD burner to make an extra copy of this DVD and see wonderful rare footage and some interesting jam sessions.

If you own Rust Never Sleeps by Neil Young you can use your DVD burner to make a back up copy. You will capture this garage-rock band playing really cool versions of “Like a Hurricane” and “Cortez the Killer.” Wild Style is a great DVD that illustrates the early days of hip-hop in the Bronx. Make a copy of it using your DVD burner and you won’t have to worry about misplacing or ruining it. Bruce Springsteen has a DVD called Blood Brothers. This project was filmed during the 1955 reunion of the E Street Band. You can see several takes of “Blood Brothers” and see Bruce at work in the studio. If you own this DVD you will want to make a copy using your DVD burner.

In the DVD Black and White Night, Roy Orbison plays with Springsteen, Elvis Costello and Tom Waits. This would be another good DVD to have an extra copy of. Fugazi has a video, Instrument, that documents one of America’s most principled punk rock bands. This video features a concert at Lorton Correctional Facility near D.C. Back this DVD up with your DVD burner.

Do you own Led Zeppelin’s DVD? Use your DVD burner to make an extra copy and make sure you always have five hours of amazing rock. There is a lot of energy in this video. The Beastie Boys have a DVD that contains eighteen videos of the group. If you have this DVD you will be able to make a remix of each video. Then you can use your DVD burner to back it all up on another copy. It may be time to own a DVD burner. The DVD burner is a necessity if you want to back up your collection of DVDs.

Some Computer Accessories We Want For Our Computer!

Posted by admin on November 9, 2008 in Uncategorized

Printers:
A printer is a computer accessory we all need. From inexpensive ink jets to monochrome and color lasers, different printers are designed to do different jobs with your computer. You will have a few choices to make when getting your new printer: price, speed, and print quality are the main ones. Ink jet printers and digital cameras are changing how we print photographs. Load your printer up with special photo inks and paper and ink jet/bubble jet printers have become one of the best options for transforming a digital image into a photograph! For speed and razor sharp text the monochrome laser printers are fantastic.

Scanner:
This computer accessory is for input into your computer. Graphic designers use a scanner often to input pictures etc. If you don’t have a digital camera a scanner is the only other way to get pictures into your computer to email, manipulate, add to cards, etc.

Computer Speakers:
These are computer accessories that most computers come equipped with. But some people like ‘game players’ want to upgrade for surround sound. You will find many different versions and brands.

The Keyboard and The Mouse:
These computer accessories also usually come with your computer system. Although most people will have to purchase new ones during the life of their computer. This is because they do not last as long as the computer system itself. Of course, it is dependent on how much you use them, how rough you are on them, and how clean you keep them.

Private Space Enterprises

Posted by admin on in Uncategorized

We all know that space will become the final frontier for Corporate Commercialization. What sorts of businesses will go into space? Well we already know that space tourism is starting. We saw the media releases of SpaceShip One and potential tickets to travel into space for only $250,000 which is a deal considering the Russians are charging some 20 million to take someone to the space station for a few days. Soon there will be hotels on the moon too. Special tours to the Mars Surface, talk about a once in a lifetime opportunity, well if you have the money, you too can go there.

Launching Satellites is also a huge industry around the world, as well as building, flying and operating them. There are commercials and military patrons for which there seems to be no shortage of customers lining up for more.

We also have heard of the money to be made in studying BioTech in space, as viruses, immune systems, vaccines and medicines all operate differently in space. There is no shortage of laboratory experimentation lining up for a ride on the next shuttle to get to the ISS to carry out an experiment to prove or disprove a theory.

What about mining? Indeed, there is titanium on the moon, lots of it and many other minerals needed in manufacturing and it will be less expensive to make things in space to use in space, such as spacecraft, space stations and colony building materials.

One group recently has decided to start a Space tug business after all if you get stuck you cannot just call AAA to help you. There will also be customers with satellites or what about towing the Hubble to the moon rather than allowing it to fall in rubble? See for yourself.

“London, England (SPX) Oct 12, 2005 – Orbital Recovery has entered into a Memorandum of Agreement for a telecommunications satellite life extension mission that will use the company’s innovative CX-OLEVTM “space tug” as an in-orbit service vehicle.”

http://www.spacedaily.com/news/salvage-05b.html

As the space business expands you will find entrepreneurs lining up with ideas and ways to make money, along with customers who wish to get a closer look at mankind’s final frontier. Think about it, think about the future of space.

Don’t Cry

Posted by admin on November 8, 2008 in Uncategorized

Crying is one of these things that everybody does. Watching some one cry is hard and can be very emotional for people. I cry when I am happy. Like if I am watching one of those shows that builds a needy family a home, or gives them a bunch of money or when someone loses a bunch of weight. It is always so nice to see people doing good in this would. And if the story is right, I will weep like a baby. I cried like a little girl when my daughter was born. It was the happiest moments of my life. Crying when you are happy will make you feel great, and you will want to do good things. Now, crying when you a scared is really bad. I have actually never been so scared that I cried. Maybe when I was a little kid I cried from a scary movie or something, but I don’t think that most guys will cry from being scared. But I bet that all of them have cried just from seeing somebody else cry. The first time that I cried like that I was at a funeral. My dad’s sister’s kid had died as a baby. He was so crushed to see his sister in such poor shape, that he was crying so hysterically. It was one of the hardest things that I had ever seen. But the worst thing that I have ever seen was how my wife acted when she had to leave her baby for the first time. The thing was that she was able to stay home for four months. During thisshe became so attached to the little girl that noting could let her out of her sight. Then reality set in, she had to go back to work and be apart from the baby for the first time. Andto make things worse, her first week back would be in New York over 3000 miles away. My wife was a mess, and at the airport was balling because she was so sad. I had to cry, it was the saddest thing that I have ever seen.

My Online Crystal Ball

Posted by admin on in Uncategorized

Most people making predictions about the future never face accountability for their erroneous or vague forecasts.

“Experts” predict future developments, especially online, and only follow up if they happen to hit correctly.

I, however, will gladly hold myself accountable for the following forecast of exciting developments that will revolutionize use of the Internet for all of us within the next twelve to thirty six months.

Entertainment

Download movies through your computer? YES.

With more than 50% of all online access in the U.S. now at broadband speed, the infrastructure for downloading movies exists. Combine that with the availability of cheap CD- burners, TiVo, and portable players like the new Sony PSP, and all the ingredients now exist for movies on-demand over the Internet.

Live performances by famous and unknown artists? YES.

Emerging talents will get “discovered” by the popular culture through live broadcasts, “Podcasting” and other “events” over the Internet.

“Podcasting” in particular will drive the social network effect of people passing along new music and content to friends.

Business
True freedom and mobility through video conferencing? NO.

About 3 years ago, I predicted that individuals providing personal services such as bookkeeping, accounting, writing, computer programming or other consulting functions would use inexpensive and highly portable video conferencing access and equipment to provide face-to-face personal interaction.

I was wrong. People have discovered that, with some things, it’s just plain easier to pick up the phone and talk to someone.

I now doubt that more traditional functions like this will adopt video conferencing.

The “little guy” will get completely swallowed up by big business? NO.

Enhancements in technology will allow creative and innovative companies to compete on a scale with enormous companies.

New ideas, innovations and the ability to bring them to market quickly through powerful online channels will dictate the initial success or failure in business.

However, once the business gets established, the “little guy” will always lose to the “business” that operates like a business.

Companies large and small learned how to market online correctly in the last few years, so now long-term success directly relates to the ability to operate like a business, not a “lone gun” operating from an Internet connection in a spare room.

Social
An increasing feeling of loneliness and isolation for people who work online? YES.

It rates much easier for people to retreat into a “virtual” world, filled with virtual friends and relationships, than to face reality in the offline world.

I think this trend of psychic disconnect will continue until people realize they need a balance of offline friends and interests too.

Three general developments will drive this next wave of technological innovation: faster, cheaper computer processors; increased access to broadband Internet; and cheap data storage devices with huge capacity.

I also think one of the most important developments to watch in the next year involves any portable device that allows the user to take digital media with them.

In particular, portable MP3 players and portable digital video players, present the most exciting and explosive possibilities for growth.

Access 90 Search Engines’ Results With Firefox’s Search Box

Posted by admin on November 7, 2008 in Uncategorized

TurboScout.com launches a Firefox extension which empowers over 27 million Firefox users to access original results from more than 90 search engines with just a click.

According to Nielsen//NetRatings, majority of Internet searchers use multiple search engines to compare results from search engines like Google, Yahoo, MSN Search and Ask Jeeves. Different search engines use different ranking methods and thus no single search engine can give users exactly what they’re looking for.

Users who visit http://www.turboscout.com only need to enter keywords once. Getting original results from different search engines is as simple as clicking on the engine’s name. No more retyping of URLs and keywords into different search engines.

“To further simplify the searching process and enhance TurboScout.com’s usability, a Firefox extension has been developed. This allows Firefox users to customize the browser’s in-built search box to search using TurboScout.com,” said William Chee, founder of TurboScout.com. “Users can add this extension with just a click from http://www.turboscout.com/firefox, no download or installation is needed.”

“TurboScout.com saved my time and made searching a breeze,” said Ben M. Bois, the extension’s developer and founder of hooboo.com. “This prompted me to develop the extension to help fellow Firefox users around the world.”

“Over 27 million Firefox users can now harness TurboScout.com benefits by adding the extension to their Firefox’s search box with just a click,” Ben added.

By incorporating TurboScout.com’s capability with the convenience of searching with Firefox’s in-built search box, Firefox users will be able to access original search results of multiple search engines right from their browser’s tool bar.

8 reasons why HTML emails will hurt your marketing efforts

Posted by admin on in Uncategorized

HTML emails have been around for a while. They look more
professional than their text-only counterparts and
actually generate better click-through rates. For
example, there are studies which show that click-through
rate for text emails for some industries is 7.1% while that
for HTML emails is 10%.

That being said, many marketers are still not keen to
publish in html. The reason: there are many problems
associated with HTML emails that can actually hurt,
rather than aid your marketing campaign. So let’s make
a list of how HTML can be hurtful to your marketing efforts.

1.Different email clients work differently

Internet Explorer (IE) is the dominant Web browsers used by
most web surfers, so when it comes to designing websites,
as long as the site presents well in IE, chances are, most
visitors to your site can view it properly.

Unfortunately, the equation becomes more complicated if we
are talking about emails since there are different types
of email clients (eg., Outlook Express, Eudora, web-based
email clients and so on), each with different capabilities,
settings, versions, etc. that make it more difficult to
predict how your email will look like at the recipients’
end. Generally speaking, the capabilities of web-based
email clients such as Hotmail, AOL and Yahoo! Mail are not
as robust as program-based email clients, so certain
effects that appear all right in program-based clients may
not show properly in web-based clients. Another example
is how some web-based clients cause your re-directs on URL
to break or appear as plain text making it such that links
that are crucial to making the sales do not work. The
worst blunder happens when your recipient receives a
marketing message that they can’t read at all. This is
the case with some email clients such as Pine that don’t
have the capability to read HTML or AOL that can’t
display HTML properly. Consider also the problem your
recipients will encounter if they use PDA and
Internet-capable cellular phone. These devices don’t
support HTML email at all.

2.The problem with printing HTML emails

Some of your recipients like to print their emails and read
them offline for a variety of reasons. The danger of this
to your marketing message is that graphical components in
your HTML email may appear as blank boxes with icons
indicating that graphics should be there, but are
unfortunately not there. When such blank boxes appear, you
are kissing goodbye to the hope that your graphical HTML
email will present a professional image to your
recipients. Instead of looking disjointed and untidy with
blank boxes, your message will have a greater impact if it
has no frills (i.e., plain text), but is presented in a
properly formatted way.

3.Connecting your users to the Internet when they
don’t intend that

Sometimes, the action of opening a HTML email will trigger
a connection to the Internet when your user doesn’t have
the intention to be connected. This results in
inconvenience to your users because they then have to
disconnect from the Internet.

4.HTML emails load slower

Internet users are an impatient bunch. At the very least,
HTML email is twice the size of its text-based equivalent.
This means if you send your ezine in HTML, you tie up
more of your readers’ bandwidth during delivery and
receiving. Some of your ezine’s readers use dial-up.
This delay is much more noticeable to them than to your
broadband-user readers.

5.Security problems with HTML emails

You want to send your recipients your marketing message,
not a virus. The unfortunate reality is that HTML emails
transmit viruses easier than text-based emails. This is
because it is possible for attachments to automatically
execute code without the user opening the attachment.

6.HTML emails are harder to forward

Almost every marketer hopes for her campaign to be “viral”
(that is, your marketing message being passed on from one
recipient to another and another). It’s straightforward
to forward a text-based email from one recipient to her
friends and family. But when one tries to forward a HTML
email to another, incompatibility problems arise. The
forwarded email may not be received by its recipients
looking the same way as it looked when it was first
received by the original recipient.

7.More variables to measure makes it more
difficult to gauge your success

The success of a text-based email marketing message is easier
to measure than a HTML one simply because there are more
variables involved in the success of the latter. For
example, your email may have a poor response not because
the message was badly worded, but because the font you had
chosen is tiring for the eyes. Is your font even readable
by every computer? What about the visibility of your
typeface against the coloured background you have chosen?
The point is: there are so many variables in a HTML email
marketing campaign that it’s difficult for you to measure
what went right or what went wrong in a particular campaign.

8.Do you want to maintain three lists?

Due to the uncertainty of how your HTML email will look at
each recipient’s computer, businesses that choose to go
HTML also have to maintain a text and an AOL version of
their ezines. This means, you have to maintain three
lists, rather than one. If you are a large corporation
with a database-driven mailer that have a “sniffer”, you
can rely on your “sniffer” to tell which recipient is able
to receive which type of email and then send only that
version. But if you don’t have that capability,
maintaining three lists can be too challenging for your
home-based business.

In conclusion, if you don’t know for sure whether the
majority of your readers will be able to receive HTML
emails, send them text messages. If you really love the
idea of having a HTML newsletter, there’s always the
alternative of putting your newsletter up on your website
and providing a link at the beginning of your text-based
email which says, “Click here if you wish to view this
message in HTML”.
