I soar through the sky Searching for something I know not yet The barren and desolate land Beneath me cries out in pain Cracked and broken Dry and forlorn So I cry I spread my wings And draw closer to see The dust and debris Scatter throughout Branches break And flowers die And so I cry My tears are falling Like rain now Puddles of my pain Are soaking the land below And I cry more The earth swallows my tears And cries out for more A flood of tears Would not be enough But still I cry I see the earth change The brown and gray Turn to emerald greens Buds form Into newly sprouted flowers I see roses, geraniums, and daffodils I hold back my tears Bold colors of blue That reflect the sky Shimmering reds That rubies cannot behold Blazing yellows The sun cannot compare I cry no more I soar higher and higher Reaching my lair But before I retire I pluck from the earth A small red rose To remind me Why I cried
