Romantic London City Break

Posted by admin on in Uncategorized

If you’re planning a leisurely vacation in the UK you might want to consider staying at one of the top London hotels . It’s true they can be somewhat pricey, but on the other hand you can be assured of great customer service, excellent food and a good night’s sleep in a comfortable bed. As with any kind of vacation the prices can change according to the time of year, so by going off-season you might be able to bag yourself a bargain. Another way of cutting the cost is by staying in a hotel that’s just outside London . You’ll be able to book a room for around $100 a night, whereas a similar room in the city center will set you back closer to $300 a night. If you’re staying for a week a two and you’re willing to do a little bit of commuting in and out of central London you can save yourself a substantial amount of money.

And while you’re staying in London why not make inquiries about airline tickets to Europe ? With France only a short hop away it’s quite possible to spend a fortnight in London and include a weekend in Lyons. With return fares from as little as $60 you can afford to enjoy a few gastronomic treats and take in a little bit of French cinema. With so many low-cost airlines and budget travel agents competing for business you’ll find that prices can change daily. By going online and having a look at the price comparison websites you’ll be able to take your pick from the latest bargains. It only takes a few minutes and it’s really easy. What could be better than eating breakfast in your hotel room, then booking a flight and having your evening meal in the beautiful French countryside?

Time to Do It – Now!

Posted by admin on February 14, 2009 in Uncategorized

There can be many frustrations in business and more especially in management.

Lots of us, in these roles, get irritated by the smallest things – often these things seem to be about others and, in truth, are just about ourselves.

Getting honest about this is one of the biggest challenges we have.

Sometimes, it’s vital to cast all our doubts and fears to one side and get on with it.

The more polite shortening of this is ‘JDI’ – otherwise known as ‘Just Do It’.

In this little article, we’ll explore more about JDI and how this weekend, it made a magnificent difference to a small town on the Scottish/English borders.

Manager Rowan Alexander says he never wants to leave Gretna.

In four years, this little Scottish football team have moved from the incredibly unknown non-professional league called the Unibond League, to the Scottish First Division (next season) and as of this weekend, their 3-0 win over Dundee led them to the Scottish Cup Final.

Never before has a team from the Scottish Second Division got there. And they are not expecting to stop progressing till they achieve Premier League status, hopefully sometime in 2007.

Already, due to their win and that of Hearts in the second semi-final on Sunday, Gretna are assured of European football next season (as long as Hearts stay 2nd in the Scottish Premier League!)

When asked how they had achieved this, Alexander, manager since those heady days back in the Unibond, says,
“We don’t talk about things here, we do it. Nothing negative, everything is positive.”
If ever there was a time when a state of expectations, meeting with application and wonderfully supportive, encouraging and developmental management came to fruition, then surely Gretna is it.

Sometimes the seemingly ‘unachievable’ is so very achievable. We just get in our own way, prevaricating with reason after reason why we shouldn’t, can’t or mustn’t.

We fear possible outcomes which might not achieve our goals – blindly forgetting that if we don’t try, we are certain of failure.

I once worked with a client who told me that he prevaricated because at least if he didn’t try, he wouldn’t fail and the hope and dream he had would still be there.

It had taken years of practice to reach this state of inertia – it took but a few coaching sessions to encourage him that using a JDI approach would not be life-threatening.

This week you have the opportunity to move on those things you have been putting off, for whatever reason.

Let’s call it an amnesty.

Give yourself permission for slipping out of your comfort zone and into action. It might not be as chilling an experience as you may think.

If “all Things Are Possible,” Why Can’t I Balance My Checkbo

Posted by admin on in Uncategorized

For me, the most terrible time of each month is the day our bank statement comes. We commonly call it BSS (Bank Statement Syndrome). I don’t know why it is, but I have trouble getting the parsonage checkbook to balance with the monthly bank statement.

For me, the most terrible time of each month is the day our bank statement comes. We commonly call it BSS (Bank Statement Syndrome). I don’t know why it is, but I have trouble getting the parsonage checkbook to balance with the monthly bank statement.

That ominous document intimidates me every time it arrives. After all, the bank’s business is keeping track of accounts. They have hundreds, maybe thousands of accounts and I have just one. On the surface, it seems a rather simple thing for me to keep our checking account up to date, but I assure you, it is not. Every time I try, I lose interest.

Keeping our checkbook accurately balanced is almost like a circus balancing act; everything is up in the air. No matter how often I add those figures, I never get the same result twice. I have resorted to adding up the figures at least three times and then take the average. So far, I’ve been batting a .195 and have been dropped by the major league, which has lost interest in my career. This may satisfy my conscience but it does little to appease the accounting department of my friendly banking institution.

The thing flustering me more than anything else are those fees. The average bank has more fees than a West Virginia hound dog has fleas. Everything I turn around there is another fee. (I need to stop turning around.) Somebody needs to invent a fee powder.

Each bank must employ a stable of employees whose only job is to dream up these fees. How else can you explain it? These fees are creative enough to cover every aspect of a person’s wallet, retroactive three generations back.

To open an account there is a fee. Each account carries a monthly maintenance fee. I have been paying this monthly maintenance fee for several years and I have yet to see someone from the bank come out and mow my lawn. What is this maintenance fee? What are they maintaining? They certainly are not maintaining my checkbook. With all the fees I am paying, I would expect someone from the bank come to my house, sit around my table, and help me balance my checkbook. I would supply the coffee and donuts -for a small fee of course.

Another thing I do not understand is the ATM fee. Why do I have to pay money to the bank to get my money out of the bank? Whose money is it anyway?

I think banks offer monthly bonuses to the employee who comes up with the most creative fee for that month to impose on its customers. Fe‑Fi‑Fo‑Fum all those bank fees are dumb.

Once upon a time and far far away, banks would bribe customers with toasters or umbrellas to open accounts with them. Those very days are over, you can be sure. Now, I’m the one bribing the bank to keep my account with them.

Last week I slipped the cashier the usual quarter and asked her to make sure my deposit got in my account, please. I do not know whether it is bribery or just a gamble and probably would do better with the Florida lottery.

I would not mind it so much if only my checkbook would occasionally agree with the bank statement. It takes a lot of effort on my part to keep some semblance of order in my checkbook. I am not always as successful as I would like. I make mistakes and sometimes they cost me. At my bank when I bounce a $3.75 check, I have to take a second mortgage out on my house to pay the fee.

I would close my account and transferred to another bank that there is a closing fee, a transfer fee and a fee that has no explanation whatsoever. Just a goodbye jester from my bank, one last chance for them to screw up my checking book.

Some people think God should do everything for them. All they have to do is sit back and enjoy themselves and God will do everything for them. A prevalent attitude about faith supports this erroneous notion. Someone once compared this idea of faith as putting a “nickel in the slot and pull the lever” and you get what you want.

Some things in my life only God can do and I need to understand what they are and allow Him to do them. However, some things in my life God expects me to do. God will never do these things for me. I must come to grips with this distinction. If I don’t, my life will be miserable.

Some people are sitting around waiting for God to do something He is expecting them to do. As they wait, they become frustrated and start accusing God of all sorts of sinister things.

Part of getting to know God is understanding this. What is my responsibility as a Christian? What does God expect from me?

An Old Testament verse puts much of this into perspective. After Solomon dedicated the Temple God responded by saying, “If my people, which are called by my name, shall humble themselves, and pray, and seek my face, and turn from their wicked ways; then will I hear from heaven, and will forgive their sin, and will heal their land” (2 Chronicles 7:14 KJV).

For the most part, many people are sitting around waiting for God to balance their checkbook when He has put the pencil in our hands.

I Can Make You Svelte – Weight Loss with Rules

Posted by admin on February 12, 2009 in Uncategorized

Weight reduction is something almost everyone struggles with sooner or later. Seeking the most healthful diet or the most effective physical exercise routine can continue for ages. Without examination, it appears that the search is about more or less looking fit to please others.

You will bend over backwards to make a good impression on “them,” am I correct? In order to be successful, lucky, and pull that lifetime mate, its required that you look great to them. Hmmmm.

Unfortunately, this is to some degree true, even so, appearing fit (worthy) is actually just about getting in tune with your personal self-respect, getting at a greater worth that is not derived from your appearance. “Getting rid of fat” must not be the singular question you ask. You don’t have to let go of the quest to lose weight, but at least try putting this question along side of it: “How can I find a sense of worth and fitness on the inside, no matter how my body looks?”

Chances are you’re already asking such a question, unconsciously.

During your weight reduction efforts, the above question usually lies beneath the quest you are on. Seeing as how it is present anyway, why not make it top of mind. Turn it into your central issue. Make self-pride precisely as worthy in importance to fast weight loss. There is absolutely nothing to lose.

After making improved self-esteem the target, along with diets that work, you are on the road towards a much better you emotionally. You start to envision that there are other ways to work out this task, beside just diets and workouts. Going for true dignity drives you to stare the problem right in its eyes. You then start to uncover the nitty-gritty issues.

It is imperative that you get assistance if many wounds are surfacing. There are some special books and resources on weight loss, self-pride, body image, and proper self-acceptance that will take you to new heights.

But the issue and its answer originate with you. What I am trying to say is that the real problem is not selecting a weight loss diet, or what to eat, etc. the real issue is self-judgment. It must begin there.

You only feel bad in the eyes of other people if you are judging yourself. When you take of your “glasses” of self-judgment, no matter how burdensome it was, then you will have arrived at the root of the problem. You come out from that state by choosing to do so. You stay away from self-judgment about your body image or about anything for that matter, by noticing how unproductive it is, and simultaneously finding ways to experience more self-pride.

Coastal Raises MassCap Purse to $5 Million

Posted by admin on February 10, 2009 in Uncategorized

Two of the best Thoroughbreds in the world will each receive a $1 million participation bonus in this year’s Massachusetts Handicap (MassCap) as Coastal Development LLC chairman, Richard Fields, announced that his company is giving additional money to raise the purse to a whopping $5 million. However, the sum will only be given away if Big Brown wins the Triple Crown, and both he and Curlin, 2007 Breeders’ Cup Classic winner, will remain unbeaten this year and compete in the MassCap against one another.

The first MassCap Thoroughbred horse race was held on the 16th of October in 1935. Currently, race distance is set at 1 1/8 miles and the regular prize money is placed at $500,000. It is one of the 5 races included in the Breeders’ Cup Challenge “Win and You’re In” Classic Division.

Fields believes that raising the purse money and offering a participation bonus is a great incentive if both horses are to go head to head. He further discloses that if Big Brown wins the Triple Crown, but one or both horses are beaten in 2008, the purse will drop to $3 million, but each Thoroughbred will still receive a $500,000 participation bonus.

Fields is responsible for the resurrection of Suffolk Downs, after he purchased the Thoroughbred racing venue last year. Prior to Fields’ purchase, the MassCap was cancelled due mainly to Suffolk Downs’ financial woes.

Why is Content Important?

Posted by admin on in Uncategorized

Are you new to online marketing? Or are you one of the millions of frustrated website owners watching helplessly as your site fluctuates up and down (even on and off) the search engines?

Is your traffic suffering as you try to stay on top of the most current methods of finding traffic, only to find that they are ineffective for bringing targeted traffic or stop working soon after the search engines catch on?

There is a reason that staying in the search engines is vitally important. The amount of people who are searching for information online is increasing rapidly.

An Ipsos-Reid poll showed that people are starting to rely more heavily on the internet with increases in the frequency of internet usage in North America the UK and Asia. At the time of the poll 72% of Americans were online within the previous month, and that number continues to rise.

How are they finding information on the internet?

According to research published by GVU (Graphic, Visualization and Usability Center), most users – novice, expert, young, old, male and female – find new websites from two main sources: hyperlinks and search engines.

Pew Internet & American Life Project also published statistics about search engine use which indicated that “84% of online American adults have used search engines. That amounts to 108 million people. On any given day, 56% of those online use search engines.”

How many of these potential visitors are finding YOUR website? More websites are created each day leading to increased congestion and competition for the top spots in search engine results. How are you able to compete? Well first of all, how do search engines bring you traffic?

Two of the most popular methods of getting traffic from search engines include PPC – Pay Per Click – and SEO – Search Engine Optimization.

PPC:

Pay Per Click is advertising provided by the search engine providers (Google, Yahoo! and others) where you PAY for top placement. Their strategies for placement differ slightly. Some search engines will give you higher placement if your ad has a higher click-through rate (meaning more people click on your ad in ratio to the amount of times your ad was shown), others give top positions to the highest bidder.

In either case, you PAY. It is a quick way to get listed in the search engines and a smart way to get your traffic flowing – but it is not the cheapest AND you could spend far more than is profitable for your business if you don’t know what you’re doing.

SEO:

There are a lot of companies working ‘behind the scenes’ to help website owners get plenty of traffic from the natural search engine listings. Natural listings mean the search engine has ranked you according to the value it believes your site will offer an individual searching for a specific word or phrase.

Understanding exactly WHAT the search engines want to see when ranking sites requires knowledge of the algorithms. These algorithms change all the time as search engine providers try to outwit the search engine optimizers trying to find loopholes in the ranking system.

Some SEO companies will promise you top spots for a certain cost. Some are honestly creating optimized websites – others may be using techniques that could possibly get your site BANNED from the search engines entirely (once the search engine catches on). However, optimizing your website for better placement in the search engines is a technique that you should become familiar with and use to your advantage.

Both of these traffic methods have their pros and cons for generating traffic from the search engines. You will find out more about using them properly later on. But first you need to know what REALLY works…

Cellphones today – You wish you were in the Matrix

Posted by admin on February 8, 2009 in Uncategorized

Everybody today is looking for the coolest cellphone on the market. You get the one that does everything except cook for you, only to find out that the next day another one came out that can bake pancakes for breakfast, and cellphones just keep evolving and integrating more of the technology into a single device.

Remember the movie the Matrix? You threw your cellphone out the building, into the trash, you would even beat a couple of agents with it, and the next day you already had a cooler one in you hands.

We all wish it was this simple, but with the trends moving faster than ever before, cellphones are evolving rapidly today.

The great thing about this is that you get a cool cellphone today, and in six months you can get another one with twice as much functions in it for the same price. Or if you’re looking for comodity, than you can wait a couple of months and you can get the coolest cellphone that came out two months ago for a very good price.

There really is no stop in technology. Today you can use your cellphone as an Mp3 player, a radio, your personal agenda, voice recorder and digital camera. The future seems good as the standard cellphones are now coming out with more and more of these functions.

When you are looking to buy a new cellphone there are a few things you want to consider. Your choice of phone almost always depends on your choice of wireless service provider. In most cases you first need to figure out which carrier offers the best coverage and the best monthly service plan in your area. You can choose between flip-open, clamshell-style phones and standard non-flip phones. Flip phones can be more difficult to use with one hand because the cover may be heavier than the base, and some lack a separate caller ID screen on the cover that’s visible without opening the phone.

Part of what makes a phone easy to use is its portability. A typical non-flip phone weighs about 4 ounces and is about the size of an energy bar–5 inches long, 2 inches wide, and an inch thick. Anything above that is considered large.

Most new phones allow at least three hours of talk time and two to six days on standby. Some phones, including Nokia’s, can last up to 14 days on standby. Keep in mind that usage affects battery life, as well as the signal strength of your cellular service–a phone that constantly searches for signals will run itself down quickly.

These are a few things you will want to consider before you decide for your cellphone. In summary what you want is a design that fits your personal style, a plan that fits your budget, and the accesories that match up with your everyday needs. Once you have that, you have a perfect matching cellphone for you.
