I was tempted to choose “harmony” for this installment of my alphabet. However, a brief moment of reflection convinced me instead to favor this Navaho term which, while encompassing and often explained as harmony, delivers so much more than that when you plumb the true depth of its meaning.
Hozho cannot be adequately translated into a single English word. It is the essence of the Navaho way of being, a sense of elemental rightness that is core to their way of living – a way of being that we could do worse than to strive for in our own lives. Hozho is a word of depth and layers, meaning at once harmony and beauty, truth and balance. To be in hozho is to be at one with and a part of your environment and the world around you in such a way that the notes of your life complement and resonate with the symphony of life all around you. You neither pitch above nor below the thrumming chords of the Universe, but yet at the same time your melody stands on its own merits and is heard with utter clarity – pure in tone and pitch and strength, singular yet subsumed in the whole.
Hozho is not the easiest word to explain, but it’s essential meaning can be intuited through experience. Think of those times when you felt as if you truly part of the creation around you, yet clearly a singular being, at once loved by and in love with all that was around you. Perfectly matched, perfectly balanced, perfectly in tune – walking with beauty and rightness and joy in every step and every breath. That is hozho, and I wish you the ability to find it and live it in your life.

Bankruptcy is a legal action filed by someone who is unable to pay her debt as agreed. Once bankruptcy is filed, all active civil legal proceedings associated with the home loan are put on hold. Consequently, legally, a home loan creditor has to terminate every collection action including, but not limited to, foreclosure. However, a lender can be permitted to go forward if they ask for relief from the automatic stay period; and if it is permitted, may go ahead with the foreclosure action. Declaring Bankruptcy will not halt foreclosure and you must still repay your loan. Bankruptcy simply makes the foreclosure continue at a slower pace, it can not resolve the original issue.
Sometimes consumers have to pick between filing for insolvency or permitting their mortgage lender to foreclose their home. If monthly house payments are not made on time, the financial institution can file for a foreclosure on the property. Not a thing shy of paying for the mortgage on time is guaranteed break the foreclosure process. Mortgage loans are just like auto loans, if you do not pay your payments you invariably will have it repossessed. It is exactly the same for everybody who has not paid his or her home loan; the mortgage holder will likely start foreclosure proceedings.
Although bankruptcy does not halt foreclosure for good, it could give an individual enough time to pay back the past due or at a minimum makes it little gentler to pay back the home loan lender. the insolvency process necessitates a mortgage lender to freeze a foreclosure action, a debtor has a little time to raise the cash necessary to pay the lender. Financial insolvency is the final fall back for all debtors. Eventually bankruptcy will come about when he is completely incapable of meeting their creditor’s terms of repayment. Under insolvency, some non-secured debts will probably be discharged but the home loan will not. The home loan borrower has to be prepared to repay the mortgage within the given time frame as the debt is guaranteed by tangible assets. Additionally, Chapter 13 bankruptcy has a schedule of fees that will be court ordered, that allows the borrower make payments on her home loan to get caught up on their balance.
Before the consumer successfully files for bankruptcy, they have to meet the conditions. If they do qualify, there will be legal fees. Possibly, it might cost more in legal fees than if they were to just knuckle down and continue making home loan payments. If you are of the mind that filing for bankruptcy can be a solution to the problem, an attorney will likely be capable of answering whatever questions you have. Because insolvency proceedings are extremely detailed, house owner really ought not seek to do it by themselves.

Katharine Graham, chairman of the executive committee of The Washington Post Company and the author of Personal History, a memoir for which she received the 1998 Pulitzer Prize for Biography, died July 17 at age 84.
Graham, who has been dubbed “one of the most powerful women in American media,” and “one of the twentieth century’s most powerful and interesting women,” served as chairman of the board of The Washington Post Company for 20 years prior to becoming chairman of the executive committee in September 1993. She held other titles like chief executive officer and president after serving as the publisher of The Washington Post newspaper from 1969 to 1979.
Graham will be sorely missed in Washington and all over the country.
“It seems unthinkable that will not be there anymore,” said writer Sally Quinn in a recent CNN interview.
Ben Bradlee, Vice President of The Washington Post Company, said, “She had a lot of fun and made others have a lot of fun at the same time.”
Quinn, who referred to Graham as “Kay,” the name she was known to many by, also said, “She worked harder than anyone I ever knew.”
Graham was born on June 16, 1917, in New York City to Agnes Ernst Meyer and Eugene Meyer, who purchased The Washington Post at a bankruptcy sale in 1933.
She graduated from the University of Chicago in 1938 and worked as a reporter for the San Francisco News before joining the staff of The Washington Post. She married Philip Graham in 1940, and in 1945 left the Post to raise her family of four children.
After her husband committed suicide in 1963, Katharine Graham at the age of 46 assumed control of the Washington Post Company.
She “transformed the lackadaisical daily into one of the powerhouses of journalism. She stood up to government, publishing the Pentagon Papers, which revealed U.S. bungling in Southeast Asia. She gave two reporters the OK to check out a minor break-in at the Watergate — an investigation that toppled a president — and backed them despite intense White House pressure,” according to lifetimetv.com.
Talking about her decision to publish the Pentagon Papers and similar undaunted choices, Bradlee said, “Her instinct of what is right and what is wrong was finely tuned.”
Quinn added that Graham had the “guts of a burglar,” and “She enjoyed the high wire act – she never flinched.”
Lifetimetv.com also says: “At the age of 80, Graham won a Pulitzer Prize for her absorbing memoir, “Personal History,” in which she bared her anguish about her husband’s mental illness, her conflicts about combining motherhood and work and her insecurities about her powerful role.”

Texas complies with a Tort system meaning one person must be found to be blameworthy for causing the accident, and that person and their auto insurance firm is financially answerable for all the damages. The unique regulations for Texas may differ from other states..
To have better insurance security, you can opt for uninsured driver coverage. This insurance coverage option helps to cover the liabilities involved with bodily injury caused in an accident with an uninsured person. This specific coverage isn’t mandatory in the state of Texas, but it is urged to at least review if this specific auto insurance coverage would be beneficial for you.
With the average insurance premium in Texas at nearly $932 in 2003, and the United States average at around a bit below $1000, a high number of Texas residents incorrectly think that they have to accept that these Texas auto insurance premiums defined by auto insurance companies and the state of Texas regulatory agencies. Many people saw a decrease from their 2006 insurance premiums by .5% to 1%. 2008 followed in the first half, but then insurance costs began to follow their normal cycle and increase slightly. Since one out of twenty children have Attention Deficit Hyperactivity Disorder in the US, it is important for teachers to understand both the myths and realities of the disorder. Here are some thoughts that teachers should consider:
1. Don’t buy into the line, “He’d behave if he wanted to.” That may or may not be true. He may behave just fine from time to time, and if you encourage him, he may do well for long periods of time. But his problem is not that he does not want to behave, rather his problem has a medical basis which makes it hard for him to sustain self-control.
2. Understand that of all of the kids with ADD, about 60% or so are hyperactive, and that 40% or so are not hyper at all. Also know that about 60% are male, and about 40% are female. Not all kids with ADD will cause problems. The rest will just sit and stare. Only one out of three with the Attention Deficit Disorder will ever get help from a professional.
3. Don’t dismiss the behaviors as either poor parenting or poor classroom management.
4. Before talking to the parents, get a second opinion from another teacher, the school psychologist, etc. When you do meet with the parents, make a list of the behaviors that you are concerned about. Don’t try to diagnose the child yourself, as this will simply make the parents defensive. Instead, just report the observed behaviors adn ask the parents to get it checked out.
5. Invite the parents to come in to your class and observe. More than one visit may be required, as often having the parent present the first time creates a “unique” situation which stimulates the child to do better than normal.
6. Be aware that the ADHD child often does very well in unique or novel situations, or in one-to-one situations. This would include a visit to a physician or a therapist to diagnose a problem. Also be aware that the worst place for an ADHD child is in the classroom setting. There are dozens of distractions, pressures, and rules that can be difficult for the child. And teachers, please be sure to visit us atADDinSchool.com to find over 500 classroom interventions to help children with ADHD be more successful in school. Good luck to you and your ADHD kids!!!

I don’t know if you remember that old children’s song about the mouse that lived in a windmill but whenever I think of Amsterdam that song always pops into my mind. I’m not suggesting you take your next vacation in a windmill, and there are plenty of Amsterdam hotels that will do quite nicely as far as vacations are concerned.
Nevertheless windmills are one particularly lovely feature on the Dutch landscape, and they offer such a peaceful contrast to the noisy lives we have to endure nowadays. If you fancy a little peace and tranquility of your own you might like to consider spending a week or so in one of the most beautiful cities in Europe. The great thing about Amsterdam is it offers a little bit of everything with the peaceful countryside on the one hand, and the shops, street markets and live events on the other. Best of all it gives you the chance to slow your pace right down, and you can literally just stroll around without a care in the world. Of course if you want to get around a little bit quicker there’s always bicycle hire, but sometimes it’s nice to forget about rushing here, there and everywhere and just take each day as it comes.
You can find very reasonably priced accommodation in the city, and if you’re able to get hold of cheap airline tickets too you’ll be able to enjoy a wonderful vacation at very little cost. And for something slightly different why not stay on a houseboat instead of a hotel? That way you’ll get to cruise the tranquil waterways, take in the stunning views, and you may even spot a windmill or two – although hopefully without any clog-wearing mice in situ.

Year after year I find more and more individuals saying to me that they were still waiting for the warm temperatures to arrive one more time before the snow comes. In many ways these individuals did not have a very positive outlook on the arrival of the winter season. What can be done to have a more positive outlook towards the arrival of winter?
1. Put Seasonal Items In Order
Put away the summer things and pull out the winter ones so they are easier to find. Have your outdoor clothing ready to go in good order and repair including your boots, gloves, jackets and scarves.
2. Plan A Few Days Off
Plan a few days off during the winter so you have a special break to look forward to. It could be day set aside for reading or an indoor hobby that your enjoy — or it could be a ski trip to the Rockies or a Caribbean vacation.
3. Get A Plant
Get a plant to brighten your living or work area such as a plant that flowers or try forcing some flower bulbs indoors.
4. Engage In An Activity That Celebrates This Season
Start or join in a regular activity that you enjoy (or enjoyed when you were younger) that celebrates this time of year. It could be an outdoor activity such as skating, curling, skiing or hockey. If you prefer it could instead be a private indoor activity such as of journaling, reading or quilting.
5. Get Ahead Of Holiday Preparations
Get ahead of preparing for the holidays so you are not rushed later on.
6. Enjoy Some Seasonal Scents
Get a lovely aromatherapy oil spray or candle you will enjoy in your home for the season.
7. Winterize Your Vehicle
If you have one, have your vehicle winterized including getting winter tires put on, the engine tuned up and be sure to include a complete winter emergency kit and blanket.
8. Prepare For SAD (If Applicable)
If you are a sensitive person who is affected by SAD (Seasonal Affective Disorder), be sure to have your light box ready for use. (For those of you who are unfamiliar with S.A.D., it’s a physical condition that happens with the shortening of our daylight hours. In many people this causes depression and fatigue that can sometimes require extra light from special light boxes to get through the day.)
9. Get Cozy On The Couch
Put out a cozy throw blanket for the couch for when you sit to watch your favorite TV shows.
10. Enjoy Delicious, Nourishing Self Care
Bring out your favorite soups and stews recipes. If you don’t have any, have fun developing and cooking up some tasty favorites. While you are at it, also stock up on a special warm drink whether its tea, hot chocolate or apple juice / cider with cinnamon sticks to simmer.
