Entrepreneur, philanthropist, and technology pioneer Naveen Jain is the Chief Executive Officer and co-founder of Intelius Inc., a company that empowers consumers and businesses with relevant information to make intelligent decisions regarding personal safety and security. Among the services it offers, the company is best known for its award winning identity theft protection service and background check services.
Before Intelius, Naveen Jain founded InfoSpace, which is known for providing metasearch services. Prior to starting InfoSpace, Naveen Jain served as a senior executive at Bill Gates’ Microsoft Corporation.
Naveen Jain was raised in Uttar Pradesh, India. He earned his engineering undergraduate degree from Indian Institute of Technology and later on went to earn his MBA from Xavier Institute of Management. In the late 70s, Naveen Jain left India to submerge himself further into the emerging US technology market.
Naveen Jain has been the recipient of several recognitions including the “Ernst & Young Entrepreneur of the Year,” “Top 20 Entrepreneurs” by Red Herring, and for being a pioneer in technology he was awarded with the Albert Einstein Technology Medal.
His wife, Anu Jain is also deeply committed to philanthropy. Currently, she is the Vice President of Community Relations at Intellius; she is mostly responsible for some of the company’s charitable giving. She is also a board member of Pratham and has just completed her six-year term as a board member at University Prep Academy.
As a couple, the Jains are dynamically involved in numerous philanthropic activities. They have given generous donations to an assortment of nonprofit organizations dedicated to children, education, and providing quality medical care to the uninsured. Recipients of their contributions include United Way, Children’s Hospital, Hopelink, Treehouse, America India Foundation, Vedic Cultural Center, Seattle Art Museum, University of Washington and CRY India.
The couple currently resides in Washington with their three children.
