Posted by admin

SunGard Higher Education, Epsilen and the New York Times Company announced the creation of a partnership that is aimed at providing more flexible options for e-learning in order to enrich the learning experience of students. SunGard Higher Education, as part of the said project, will integrate the e-learning environment developed by Epsilen with its solutions in order to allow institutions to deliver Web 2.0 standards-based personal e-learning to their clients.

Developments in social networking and e-learning, combined with the academic demand for relevant and reputable content have been changing the dynamics and technology needs of education. In order to address these concerns, The New York Times Company and SunGard Higher Education are going to provide Epsilen to the latter’s customers. In this setup, Epsilen may be implemented as a standalone product in order to improve the functionality of learning and campus solutions. It will be delivered under the Software as a Service model which comes with managed hosting and management.

Epsilen, in cooperation with The New York Times, enables learners and teachers to access content by Times from as early as 1851. This creates a rich database of information through articles that are necessary for teaching and researching on a variety of subjects.
The New York Times Company owns a large part of Epsilen.

The Times Company has always been focused on education, says The New York Times Company President and CEO Janet L. Robinson. She further says that the collaboration with Epsilen and SunGard manifests the three companies’ commitment towards improving higher education marking a history in Internet innovation.
